January 12, 2021

The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman, James Schmidt, with the pledge to the flag at 7:30 pm.

Members present: Supervisors: James Schmidt, Donna Hoeper, and Pete Fernholz;

Clerk, Sue Hanson, and Treasurer, Christy Tvrdik.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the agenda, 2nd by Pete Fernholz.    Motion carried 3-0.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the disbursements and claims #5557-#5569, PERA0121, and 941-2020-4th in the amount of $ 12,794.87, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.   

A Motion was made by Donna Hoeper to approve the December 2020 minutes, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

TREASURERS REPORT: LMT has a balance of $859,485.96. There are no outstanding checks. The CD has been deposited back into the Money Market account under the Capital Project Fund. Christy is currently checking with Bell Bank to see if they meet the statuary financial requirements for being a bank for the township.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the Treasures report as read, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried 3-0.         

ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR:  None

ROAD DISCUSSION:

Mailbox damage: A resident reported there was damage to their mailbox after the last snow plowing. The plastic base was cracked. LMT does not cover damage to mailboxes unless they are mounted on a Swing Away Mailbox support system.

OLD BUSINESS:  

MATIT Property ins: The township laptops and the computer in the office has been added to the Inland Marine coverage.

Swing Away mailbox assessments: The Auditors office sent a final listing of the 2021 assessments, including Swing Away mailbox support and sewer. The list was reviewed. A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the assessment list, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried. 3-0

Newsletter: Newsletter was reviewed and discussed. It was decided not to put anything regarding Zoom in the newsletter if the board decides to utilize ZOOM for the meeting will post on the website. It will be listed that beginning in 2022 the newsletter will no longer be published, but will be available on the website. The Annual Meeting agenda in the newsletter will stay the same

  NEW BUSINESS

Report of outstanding indebtedness(bonds): LMT has no outstanding indebtedness. The report will be filled out and sent to the Auditors office

Noxious Weed report- Local weed inspector Training- Mar 17, 2021: Noxious Weed report for 2020 was filled out. Pete Fernholz will attend the training.

Land & Resource Hearing-Lake Andrew Estates 3rd addition & storage units: A viewing will be held January 15th at 11:20 and a hearing on January 26th at 6:25 PM. Pete Fernholz will attend.

Board of Canvas Meeting: The Board of Canvas Meeting will be held immediately following the Annual Meeting.

Alexandria Community Ed Advisory meeting/Budget request: Alexandria Community Ed will hold an advisory meeting on January 22nd. A budget request was received with a payment option of a one-time pay On February 5th or a split payment option on February 5th and June 4th. A discussion was had. LMT will make payment in April after the Annual meeting and budge approval. Sue Hanson will contact Community Ed with this information

Notices of hearings: LMT received notice of hearings from the MN Pollution Control, Long Prairie River Watershed intent to plan, and Ottertail Power rate increase. A discussion was had.

Budget requests: Budget requests have been received from the Alexandria Senior Center and Alexandria Community Education.

Adobe upgrade: Sue Hanson requested permission to upgrade Adobe on the Clerk laptop for a cost of under $200.00 per year. A motion was made by Donna Hoeper to purchase an Adobe upgrade, 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried

Filings for affidavits of candidacy: There is one filling for the Treasurer position and two fillings for the Supervisor position.

Election Judges 2021/ Absentee Ballot Board/Payroll: Sue Hanson, presented a list of Election judges to serve for the Annual Township election and the Absentee Ballot Board. A discussion was had. A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve Resolution 01-21 appointing the election judges for the March 2021 Annual Election, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

Spring Short Course-Spring Short Course will be held on March 26th,2021 at the Alexandria Holiday Inn.

Land Use Permits for December 2020: Land use permits were reviewed

Calendar: January and February calendars were reviewed.

Next Meeting-Feb 9th, 2021 at 7:00 PM

MAILBAG- Senior Center, REA, Runestone Telecom, Forada Fire Christmas party. Mailbag was reviewed and discussed.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt at 8:52 PM to adjourn the meeting, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried 3-0.
