Monthly Meeting

December 9, 2025

The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman James Schmidt, with the Pledge of Allegiance, at 5:00 PM.

Approval of Agenda and Minutes

  • Motion: Max Radil moved to approve the December 2025 agenda.
    Second: Pete Fernholz.
    Motion carried: 3–0.
  • Motion: Max Radil moved to approve the November 2025 meeting minutes.
    Second: Pete Fernholz.
    Motion carried: 3–0.

Claims and Disbursements

  • Motion: James Schmidt moved to approve claims and disbursements #6566–6575 and PERA 1225 in the amount of $88,786.77.
    Second: Pete Fernholz.
    Motion carried: 3–0.

Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer reported no outstanding checks.

  • Motion: James Schmidt moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read.
    Second: Max Radil.
    Motion carried: 3–0.

Road Discussion

There has been an issue on Laken Andrew Road with vehicles parking too close to the roadway, making snow plowing difficult. Lake Mary Township will not be responsible for damage to any vehicle or item placed within the road right-of-way during road maintenance.


Old Business

Newsletter: The Board will review the newsletter and bring additions to the January 2026 meeting.

Filing Period for March Election: The filing period runs December 30, 2025 through January 13, 2026 at 5:00 PM. Filing will be held for one Supervisor position and one Clerk position. The Lake Mary Township office will be open on January 13, 2026, from 1:00–5:00 PM for filing.

ALASD Representative: In a change of events, Gaylen Lerhol, current Lake Mary Township representative to ALASD, expressed interest in continuing to serve for another two-year term.

  • Motion: James Schmidt moved to rescind the November 2025 motion appointing Nicole Fernholz and instead appoint Gaylen Lerhol as the Lake Mary Township ALASD representative for a two-year term (2026–2027).
    Second: Max Radil.
    Motion carried: 3–0.

FernRoth Solar Farm: No updates at this time.
BSSA – Powerline: Tabled to January 2026.
Xcel Energy: Tabled to January 2026.


New Business

Auditor Information Request: Carlson SV has begun requesting information from Lake Mary Township for the 2025 year-end audit.

Keys: Beginning January 2026, all key holders (clubs, associations, vendors, etc.) will be required to complete a form to obtain a town hall key to better track key distribution.

Clerk Meeting – County Auditor (Election): Sue Hanson attended a meeting at the Douglas County Auditor’s Office regarding updates for the March 2026 elections.

Calendar: The December 2025 and January 2026 calendars were reviewed. Sue Hanson published the filing notice in the Echo Press.

Land Use Permits: None.

The mailbag was reviewed and discussed.
