The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman, James Schmidt, with the pledge to the flag at 7:00 PM.
Members present Supervisors: James Schmidt, Max Radil, and Pete Fernholz;
Clerk, Sue Hanson, and Treasurer, Christy Tvrdik.
A Motion was made by Max Radil to approve the agenda with 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.
A Motion was made by Max Radil to approve the claims and disbursements #6280-6291, PERA0724, and 941-2-2024 in the amount of $59,563.81, 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.
A Motion was made by Max Radil to approve the June 2023 minutes, 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.
TREASURERS REPORT: LMT has a balance of $1,205.979.39. There is one outstanding check. A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the treasures report as read, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.
ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR: None
ROAD DISCUSSION:
Gravel/ Chloride: Chloride is done, LMT use a total of 21,977 gallons this year.
The new gravel situation was discussed. The new gravel has not been placed yet, and the deadline for placement by Hvezda Excavating on July 31st is drawing near. If Hvezda Excavating gets the gravel placed by the deadline that is fine, but if not LMT will have Jeff Runge touch up the problem roads as needed and LMT will reschedule the roads due for gravel again in 2025. A discussion was had on LMT purchasing their gravel and having Runge Grading apply it, to avoid the issue of getting the gravel applied on time for chloride and having it applied too late in the season. A motion was made by James Schmidt to accept a contract with Ferguson Brothers to purchase 5,000.00 tons of gravel at $9.00 per ton for a total of $45,000.00. This 1st purchase of gravel will be taken out of the Capitol Projects fund, and then the future purchase of gravel will be taken out of the Road and Bridge fund, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.
Easement Settlement: Lake Mary Township received an easement settlement for the Right of Way Acquisition project SAP021-604-016 from Douglas County for the Lake Mary Townhall property involved in the County Road 4 project. LMT received $1,233.00 for Parcel 1 K/W Map 104 and $808.00 for Parcel 4, K/W Map 146.
Road Signs: LMT was informed by the County, the road signs on @4 have been taken down for construction. The County was inquiring if LMT wanted to purchase new signs. A discussion was had. LMT will have County put existing signs back up, as some of them were recently purchased.
Road Mileage Audit: Douglas County Public Works is conducting an audit to verify roads maintained by the township, ensuring the correct mileage is being submitted. The maintained roads and mileage were reviewed. Sunfish Drive was missing from the list sent to LMT. A new road listing with mileage will be forwarded to DCPW.
Road Policy: A discussion was had regarding changes to the policy. LMT will table and try to finalize these changes at the August or September meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
BSSA: LMT sent a letter to BSSA with concerns of the route of the projected powerline. Joshua Humburg and Rylie Maanum were present to go over the route of the power line and discuss concerns with the LMT Board.
Fern-Roth Solar Farm: James Schmidt attended the viewing. A hearing was held on July 9th but was tabled until August.
NEW BUSINESS
Election Judge Appointment: Sue Hanson presented the list of election judges for the August 13th election. A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the election judges for the August 13th election, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.
Variance KP Gateways- W. Lk Mary: KP Getaways LLC applied for a variance to allow a deck not meeting setback to the centerline of a township road on N’ly pt of G. Lot 1 lying W of Co Rd 91 ex: .02 ac (ALASD Lift Station #3) & SE’ly .92 ac (2 tracts). Section 5. (Lake Mary Township). Zoning RS(GDS) Lake Mary. A discussion was had. LMT board has no issues with this.
Dwelling Oriole Ln. A resident of Oriole Ln. inquired about building an enclosed entry on a home, which would involve the issue of meeting a setback to the centerline of a township road. A discussion was had. The resident will need to apply for a variance, but LMT is not in favor of this due to the closeness of the road and snow issues.
Land use/sewer permits: Permits were reviewed.
Calendar: July and August's calendars were reviewed. The primary election is August 13th, polls are open from 7:00 AM- 8:00 PM.

MAILBAG- The mailbag was reviewed and discussed.
