Board of Equalization Meeting on April 16, 2018, at Lake Mary Town Hall.

 

In attendance:  Bruce Whittmore, Matt Tikkanen, James Schmidt , Donna Hoeper, Pete Fernholz and Sue Hanson

Meeting was called to order by James Schmidt at 9 AM with the pledge to the flag.

There were no letters received or meetings scheduled with the Douglas County Auditor’s office by Lake Mary Township residents for the Board of Equalization Meeting.

Discussion was had regarding Board of Equalization Certification, right now James Schmidt is certified until July 2020, Pete Fernolz and Donna Hoeper are planning on getting their certification at the Summer Short course in June 2018 or online.

Bruce Whittmore and Matt Tikkanen went over the County Assessment Summary: Market values, Tax Market Values and Tax Cap Value, and explained Residential X-tra Homestead Description

Sales were divided into water and non-water categories as well as agriculture and commercial sales.

Residential classification property in Douglas County will have a 5% tax value increase due to the rising cost of building material, which has increased the cost of properties with existing dwellings

Agricultural Classification property of any type in Douglas County will have no change in tax value

As it stands, the overall value of the Lake Mary Township has increased 2% from fall of 2017 to 2018

Motion by James Schmidt to adjourn meeting at 9:38 AM, 2^nd by Donna Hoeper .  Motion carried 3-0
