Monthly Meeting – August 11, 2025
The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman James Schmidt with the Pledge to the Flag at 7:00 PM.
Members present:
- Supervisors: James Schmidt, Max Radil, and Pete Fernholz
- Clerk: Sue Hanson
- Treasurer: Christy Tvrdik
A motion was made by Max Radil to approve the August 2025 agenda, seconded by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.
A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the claims and disbursements #6505–6517 and PERA0825 in the amount of $18,119.07, seconded by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.
A motion was made by Max Radil to approve the July 2025 minutes, seconded by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.
TREASURER'S REPORT:
LMT has a balance of $1,317,483.79. There were seven outstanding checks, but all have now cleared. $1,161.51 was received for township aid.
A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the Treasurer's Report as read, seconded by Max Radil. Motion carried 3-0.
ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR:
Pete Fernholz spoke with Randy Zethammer regarding the thistle by County Rd #21. The ground is currently too wet to take action.
ROAD DISCUSSION:
- West Lake Mary – Blacktop: LaGrand Township has notified LMT that they plan to redo the blacktop on West Lake Mary Drive. They will let LMT know our estimated portion.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Fern-Roth Solar Farm: Nothing to report.
- BSSA Powerline: BSSA sent a notification requesting permission to test for the placement of a tower on LMT property. After discussion, a motion was made by Max Radil to send a letter to BSSA stating that there is not enough property on the LMT parcel to support a tower, seconded by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.

NEW BUSINESS:
- 2026 Township Aid Notice: LMT will receive $2,491.00 in township aid in 2026.
- Maple Lake Sewer: ALASD is installing a sewer line around the remainder of Maple Lake. The blacktop on Rosemary Drive has been removed for the project. LMT has not been informed who will be responsible for replacing the blacktop. This will be tabled until further notice is received.
- 2025 Polling Place Accessibility Grants: LMT received notice of a funding opportunity to support accessibility improvements for polling places. Sue Hanson will check into whether funding could help with lifting the concrete pads at the east doors, which have settled and created an uneven entrance.
- Alexandria Public Schools Capital Project Levy Referendum – Community Education Site Team: APS is seeking people to serve on the levy committee.
- District 9 Meeting: Thursday, August 21, 6:00 PM at Cormorant Community Center, 10929 Co. Hwy 5, Pelican Rapids, MN. Max Radil plans to attend.
- Land Use Permits: LUPs were reviewed.
- Calendar: August and September calendars were reviewed.
- Next Meeting: Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
MAILBAG:
The mailbag was reviewed.
A motion was made by James Schmidt at 7:31 PM to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.
