The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman, James Schmidt, with the pledge to the flag at 7:00 pm.

Members present: Supervisors: James Schmidt, Donna Hoeper, and Pete Fernholz;

Clerk, Sue Hanson, and Treasurer, Christy Tvrdik.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the agenda with 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried 3-0.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the claims and disbursements #5772-5789 and PERA 0322 for $25,518.17, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried 3-0.   

A Motion was made by Donna Hoeper to approve the February 2022 minutes with punctuation correction, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

A Motion was made by Donna Hoeper to approve the Board of Budget and Audit minutes with punctuation correction, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

A Motion was made by Donna Hoeper to approve the Board of Canvas minutes with punctuation correction, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

TREASURERS REPORT: LMT has a balance of $984,808.25 There is one outstanding check.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the Treasures report as read, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried 3-0.        

ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR: Hummingbird Way; Riley Brothers will honor the 2021 contract quoted for full-depth reclamation, the tentative start date is sometime in May.

ROAD DISCUSSION:

Chloride-16,694 gallons applied 2021: A discussion was had. Lake Mary Township will get chloride through the County. A request for 17,000 gallons will be made.

Mailbox damage Chickadee: A resident at 6304 reported her mailbox that was mounted on a swing-away support system was damaged by the snowplow/snow. A discussion was had. LMT will replace the mailbox.

OLD BUSINESS:  

Fischer hearing: A ZOOM hearing will be held on March 30th regarding the Fischer application for vacation of a portion of a road dedicated in Jim's Southside. A discussion was had. LMT has no issue with this application as long as LMT will be granted an easement to the infrastructure.

ARPA reporting: Clerk, Sue Hanson has filled out and submitted reporting information that was needed by the State for the ARPA funding LMT received.

  NEW BUSINESS

Amend 2023 Levy motion-Lowry Fire: A miscalculation was made in the budget regarding the Lowry Fire Dept fund request, there should have been a 2% increase for 2023, which was stated in the 2021-2022 contract and overlooked. A motion was made by James Schmidt to amend the previous motion made at the Annual meeting for the LFD funding and made a new motion to increase the funding for the LFD by 2% which amounts to $86.00, bringing it up to $4,405.00 from $4,319.00. This will increase the Fire Fund budget from $50,116.00 to $50,202.00 and the overall 2023 tax levy from $405,616.00 to $405,702.00, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

Summary of 2023 Town Taxes Voted: The summary of Town Taxes voted was reviewed.

Joshua and Denise Berg, Trousil Drive, hearing for variance: The Bergs have applied for a variance to put up a storage shed on their property located in Trousil Drive. A discussion was had. LMT has no issues with this variance as long as the shed blends in with the design of the existing home.

Cottage Grove set-up license: A request for approval of the set-up license for Cottage Grove was received. A discussion was had. A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the set-up license for Cottage Grove, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0

Ellingson Contract: A annual maintenance contact quote of $575.00 was received from Ellingson’s. A quote for $406.00 was also received from Mission Mechanical for annual maintenance. A discussion was had. A motion was made by Pete Fernholz to use Mission Mechanical for LMT’s annual furnace and AC maintenance, 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.

November elections: Information was received from the Auditors office on moving township elections to November. A discussion was had. LMT will continue to have annual elections in March.

MAT officer list/ Change in Officers LMT: The MAT officers list was updated with Max Radil as a new Supervisor. The LMT Board recognized and thanked Donna Hoeper for her years of service as Supervisor for LMT.

Summary of 2022 Assessment: A summary of the 2022 assessment taxes was received from the Assessor’s office.

Cabinets: Pete Fernholz priced cabinets for the storage room at Menards. A discussion was had. A motion was made by James Schmidt to purchase cabinets. and a countertop for the storage room, not to exceed $1,000.00, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

 Spring Short Courses Online: Spring Short courses will be held via VOOM the week of the 14th.

Noxious Weed/DCAT meetings March 16: Noxious weed and DCAT meetings will be held on March 16th beginning at 8:30 at the Public Works building.

Reorganization meeting/April meeting-April 13 @ 6:00 & 7:00 PM

Board of Appeal Meeting Apr 19, 2021, @ 9 AM.

Land Use Permits: None received.

Calendar: March and April calendars were reviewed

MAILBAG- Mailbag was reviewed and discussed.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt at 8:34 PM to adjourn the meeting, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.
