The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman, James Schmidt, with the pledge to the flag at 7:00 pm.

Members present: Supervisors: James Schmidt and Pete Fernholz;

Clerk, Sue Hanson, and Treasurer, Christy Tvrdik. Max Radil Supervisor was not present.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the agenda, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 2-0.

A Motion was made by Pete Fernholz to approve the claims and disbursements #5835-5848 and PERA0622 in the amount of $54,294.21, 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried 2-0.   

A Motion was made by Pete Fernholz to approve the 2022 minutes, 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried 2-0.

TREASURERS REPORT: LMT has a balance of $898,222.57. There are 2 outstanding checks. A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the Treasures report as read, 2nd by   Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 2-0.      

ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR:  None

ROAD DISCUSSION:

Swing Away mailboxes: The installation of the remaining Swing Away mailbox supports has been completed.

Chloride: Chloride should be done this week.

Culvert-Long Lake Lane: The edge of the road is washed out on the West corner. LMT will have Jeff Runge adjust road alignment to compensate for where people are driving over the edge of the culvert causing this to happen.

OLD BUSINESS: 

Culvert Lake Andrew Rd: LMT will remove 2 trees per permission of the property owner and trim branches on others, place a fractured rock berm, and hydroseed grass to form a buffer to attempt to keep pine needles and field runoff from plugging the culvert.

Larson- Road Vacate-Tabled until July

Mork- Ditch- Oriole: James Schmidt called and informed the resident of the Boards discussion held at the May meeting regarding the request.     

  NEW BUSINESS

Audit extension: LMT auditor asked that an extension be requested. A motion was made by James Schmidt to file for an extension, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 2-0.

Assessment Contract- Douglas Co.: A renewal contract was received from Douglas County for the Assessment of all Real and Personal Property Parcels in the Township of Lake Mary. The contract will be in effect for the next 4 years, through June 30th, 2026. The contracted cost for assessments 2023 through 2025 is $8.00 per parcel and for 2026 $8.25 per parcel. A motion was made by James Schmidt to agree to the 4-year assessment contract with Douglas County, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 2-0.

Air Conditioner: During routine service, it was found the air conditioning was not working properly, a leak was suspected but could not be located. LMT received 2 quotes for the replacement of the furnace and the AC units, as the current units are both over 20 years old. The quotes, warranties, and timeframe for installation from Mission Mechanical and Ellingson Plumbing and Heating were discussed. A motion was made by James Schmidt to accept the quote from Ellingson Plumbing and Heating for the installation of the new Furnace and AC unit 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 2-0. A motion was also made by James Schmidt to give Treasurer, Christy Tvrdik, permission to issue a 30% of cost check if needed to have the installation done, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 2-0.

Roth Annexation: LMT has received a petition notice from the State of MN and the City of Alexandria regarding Gerald and Collen Roth's wanting to have their property described as Lot2, Block one, Eltera Lane First Addition, Sect-1, Twp- 127, Range-38, AC 2.53 (parcel 30-0011-030) annexed into the City of Alexandria. A discussion was had. LMT will not be signing a waiver or filing a written objection, there will not be taking any action at this time. If the parcel is annexed the road agreement between LMT and the City of Alexandria will need to be re-evaluated, this could make it invalid and it may need to be renegotiated.

 

Gunderson- Oriole Lane: A complaint from a resident was received stating his mailbox was destroyed over the winter and sprinkler heads were damaged during a ditch cleanout. The matter has been taken care of.

 

2021 State Demographics: LMT population estimate is 1,163 and the household estimate is 435

Front door handle/Key: It was brought to the clerk’s attention that some of the duplicate keys were not working in the front door lock. Sue Hanson will have some new keys made. If this does not solve the issue may need to replace the lockset.

Calendar: The June and July calendars were reviewed.

MAT member cards: MAT member cards were distributed

Land Use Permits: LUPs for LMT were reviewed

MAILBAG- Mailbag was reviewed and discussed.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt at 8:06 PM to adjourn the meeting, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 2-0.
