Monthly Meeting
April 14, 2020

 

The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman, James Schmidt, with the pledge to the flag at 7:30 PM.

Members present, Supervisors: James Schmidt, Donna Hoeper, and Pete Fernholz; Clerk, Sue Hanson, and Treasurer, Christy Tvrdik.

A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the agenda with monthly meeting time added under new business, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried 3-0.

A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the bills in the amount of $12,884.76,                    2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.   

A motion was made by Donna Hoeper to approve the March 2020 minutes, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

A motion was made by Donna Hoeper to approve the 2020 Board of Audit minutes, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

A motion was made by Donna Hoeper to approve the 2020 Board of Canvass minutes, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

TREASURERS REPORT: LMT has a balance of $92,688.76. There is one outstanding check.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the Treasures report as read, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.  

ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR: None

ROAD DISCUSSION:

A motion was made by James Schmidt to allow Runge Grading to make minor crack sealing repairs to blacktop prior to road review, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

Open gravel quotes: LMT received 2 gravel quotes; Sondrol Excavating and Hvezda Excavating. Sondrol Excavating quote for Class 5 gravel is $8.32 per yard. This price will also be offered to LMT residents up to a maximum of 5 loads, but only during the time they are hauling in LMT. Hvezda Excavating quote for Class 5 gravel is $7.95 per yard. There was no offer for LMT residents at this price. A discussion was had. A motion was made by Pete Fernholz to use Hvezda Excavating for Class 5 grave on LMT roads, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried 3-0.

Open summer and winter maintenance quotes: One quote for summer and winter maintenance was received from Runge Grading. The quotes were reviewed and discussed. A motion was made by James Schmidt to use Runge Grading for summer maintenance for the year beginning May 1, 2020, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0. A motion was made by James Schmidt to use Runge Grading for winter maintenance, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

Township road- Little Mary Circle: Ross Larson, LMT resident would like LMT to vacate the road in the original plat next to parcels # 30-0435-903 and 30-0435-912 which was most likely intended to allow access to the parcels of  #30-0435-175 And 30-0435-000. Mr. Larson who owns parcel #30-0435-903 recently purchased parcels #30-0435-175 and 30-0435-000. Mr. Larson would like to petition the township to vacate the road and allow him to take it over; LMT has not performed any past maintenance on this road, so it should be considered vacated, but would like to make it official. Mr. Larson also requested permission to place 2-24” culverts 12 feet in length. A discussion was had. A motion was made by James Schmidt to vacate the road that was originally plated for LMT, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0. A motion was made by James Schmidt to OK the placement of 2-24” culverts 12 feet in length, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

Road review April 29th, at 4:00 pm: A discussion was had on upcoming road review. There will be a lot of areas and driveways to look at on the newly blacktopped roads which will take more time. A decision was made to split the road review to two evenings. One evening we will do blacktop roads and gravel roads the following evening. The road review is scheduled for April 29th and 30th starting a 4:00 PM.

Road review notes: There are two road concerns by LMT residents as of now.

Bluebill-culvert: Bluebill Drive blocked culvert has already been addressed.

Cottonwood-culvert: Culvert on Cottonwood will be looked at on road review.

OLD BUSINESS:

Road Policy: Policy was discussed and will look at again at the May meeting. There are items for Jeff Stabnow to review and he was not present.

H & M Storage: Reviewed and discussed packet sent by Assessors office. LMT has no concerns at this time.

Review Town Taxes Voted: LMT Town Taxes Voted (Levy) was reviewed and OK’d to turn into Auditor.

August monthly meeting-change date: The LMT monthly meeting will be held on Wed. August 12th at 7:00 PM due to a conflict with the primary election being held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.

 NEW BUSINESS

Calendar April & May 2020: The April and May calendars were reviewed.

Hand Sanitizer: Dawn McNeal sent an informational email regarding bulk hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer from the Ida Graves Distillery should be available for purchase Friday, April 10. It will be packaged in 1-gallon containers and available for pickup. The cost will be $12-15 a gallon. Sue Hanson will look into the possibility of purchasing a gallon for the township.

Land Use Permits: Reviewed

Plunkett's: Plunkett's sent out an email regarding spring maintenance. An OK was given to go ahead with spring maintenance.

Monthly meeting time: A suggestion was made to change the monthly meeting time to 7:00 pm. A discussion was had. A motion was made by James Schmidt to change the monthly meeting time to 7:00 PM rather than 7:30 PM, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

Next meeting: May 12th at 7:00 PM

MAILBAG- Mailbag was reviewed and discussed.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt at 9:26 PM to adjourn the meeting, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried 3-0.
