Monthly Meeting

February 9, 2026

The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman James Schmidt at 7:00 PM, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Members Present:

Approval of Agenda:

A motion was made by Max Radil, seconded by Pete Fernholz, to approve the February agenda. Motion carried 3-0.

Approval of Claims and Disbursements:

A motion was made by Max Radil, seconded by Pete Fernholz, to approve claims and disbursements #6592–6603 and PERA0226 in the amount of $25,647.27. Motion carried 3-0.

Approval of Minutes:

A motion was made by Max Radil, seconded by Pete Fernholz, to approve the January 2026 minutes. Motion carried 3-0.

Treasurer’s Report:

Lake Mary Township has a balance of $1,332,612.70 with one outstanding check. A motion was made by Max Radil, seconded by Pete Fernholz, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Motion carried 3-0.

ROAD DISCUSSION

2026 Publication – Gravel & Road Maintenance Quotes:
Discussion was held regarding publication for summer and winter road maintenance quotes, as well as hauling and spreading of Class 5 gravel, which Lake Mary Township will now be purchasing directly. Quotes will be opened at the April meeting.

Chloride Application:
Beau Hagen of Hennen Lawn Care presented a proposal for chloride application on township gravel roads at $1.10 per foot, applying 0.6 gallons per foot at 2.53 MPH. The Board will take the proposal under consideration.

Lake Andrew Road – State DNR:
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has contacted Lake Mary Township regarding easements on Lake Andrew Road south of the public access. The Township has contacted Douglas County Public Works to gather additional information.

Culvert – Wildlife & Wintergreen Drive:
A resident expressed concern regarding a possible collapsing culvert at Wildlife and Wintergreen Drive. The Board will review this during the April Road Review.

OLD BUSINESS

BSSA Powerline: Nothing to report.

FernRoth Solar Farm: Nothing to report.

Ceiling Tiles: New ceiling tiles for the township hall were ordered and installed.

NEW BUSINESS

2026 Budget/Levy:
The proposed 2026 levy was set at the Board of Audit and Budget meeting in the amount of $544,530.00.

Joe Riley Construction – Lost Check:
Check #6569 in the amount of $408.96 issued to Joe Riley Construction appears to be lost in the mail.

A motion was made by James Schmidt, seconded by Max Radil, that if the check is not received by the week before the March election, the Township will issue a stop payment and reissue a new check. Motion carried 3-0.

Census – Township Boundaries:
A request regarding Lake Mary Township boundaries was received. James Schmidt will follow up.

Annual Election – Ballot & Notices:
The ballot for the Lake Mary Township Annual Election was reviewed. Notice of the township election, including the alternate bad weather date, will be published and posted.

A motion was made by Pete Fernholz, seconded by Max Radil, to post but not publish the sample ballot. Motion carried 3-0.

Minnesota Benefit Group Insurance:
The group life insurance policy was reviewed.

A motion was made by Max Radil, seconded by Pete Fernholz, to keep the Township’s life insurance policy unchanged. Motion carried 3-0.

Permanent Absentee Ballots:
There are currently 20 Lake Mary Township residents on the permanent absentee ballot list. Ballots were mailed on February 4, 2026.

Preliminary Plat Viewing – Oriole Lane:
A viewing will be held on Oriole Lane for the Preliminary Plat of Michael and Mary Petersen Addition on Lot 1, Block 2, Third Addition to Jim’s South Side (excluding the easterly portion and parts of Government Lots 3 & 4), Section 17, Lake Mary Township. Zoning: RS (GDS).

Reorganization Meeting: Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM
Road Review: Tabled until the April meeting.

Calendar: February and March calendars were reviewed. The Township is current on all election events

LAND USE PERMITS

There were no building permits issued for January 2026.

MAILBAG

The mail was reviewed and discussed.
