Monthly Meeting
February 16, 2022

 

The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman, James Schmidt, with the pledge to the flag at 7:00 pm.

Members present: Supervisors: James Schmidt, Donna Hoeper, and Pete Fernholz;

Clerk, Sue Hanson, and Treasurer, Christy Tvrdik.

 

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the agenda, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

A Motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the claims and disbursements #5758-5771 and PERA0222 in the amount of $27,416.11, 2nd by Pete Fernholz   Motion carried 3-0.   

A Motion was made by Donna Hoeper to approve the January 2021 minutes with punctuation correction, 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.

TREASURERS REPORT: LMT has a balance of $977,977.29 There is one outstanding check.

A Motion was made by Pete Fernholz to approve the Treasures report as read, 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.

ROAD DISCUSSION:

2022 Publication for new gravel and road maintenance quotes: The publication for the 2022 new gravel and road maintenance quotes was reviewed and OK’d.

OLD BUSINESS:  

Newsletter: The draft of the newsletter was reviewed and corrections were made. It will be posted on the website soon. No newsletters are being mailed.

ARPA Funding/ Lost Revenue resolution: ARPA funding can now be used by the township for lost revenue. LMT should be receiving the remaining balance of the funding mid-summer. Once a total amount has been established a resolution for spending will be done.

Service Master-Cleaning: A new quote was received from Service Master including the teardown and set up of the hall for refinishing the floor. A discussion was had and will be tabled until the next meeting.

  NEW BUSINESS:

Budget 2022: The estimated proposed 2023 budget and the levy were determined at the Audit and Budget meeting. The estimated proposed budget and levy for 2023 is $401,063.00. This however, does not include the amount for the Alexandria Lakes Area Sewer District (ALASD) sewer bond and interest.

Reestablish LMT Boundaries and Precinct Resolution: Minnesota law requires that congressional, legislative, county, and local election district boundaries be redrawn every ten years after the census. Townships need to approve new or reestablish existing precinct plans by resolution or ordinance. LMT boundaries did not change.A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve Resolution #02-22 designating Lake Mary Townhall as the Lake Mary Township polling place, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

Swing Safe Supports-pricing update: Alvero LLC was contacted for an estimated cost of materials and installation for Swing Away mailbox supports in 2022. There will be an increase in cost due to rising prices of materials and gas.

Review ballot/publish or post and public notices: The ballot for the LMT Annual Election was reviewed. A notice of township election including an alternate bad weather date will be published and posted. A motion was made by James Schmidt to post and not publish the sample ballot, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

  • Annual Meeting, 3/8/2022 @ 8:15 PM-Board of Canvas immediately following.
  • Regular Monthly Meeting, Monday, 3/14/2022 @ 7:00 PM
  • Spring Short Course Virtual Training week of March 14th
  • Noxious Weed/DCAT meeting 3/16/2022
  • Board of Appeal & Equalization Monday, 4/18/2022@ 9:00 AM
  • Reorganization Meeting: The date was set for the reorganizational meeting. It will be held before the April 12, 2022 monthly meeting starting at 6:00 PM.
  • Reschedule August and November Monthly meetings: The meeting dates of the August and November monthly meetings fall on the Minnesota Primary and General election dates. A discussion was had.The August meeting will be held Monday, August 15th @ 7:00 PM and the November meeting will be held Monday, November 14th @ 7:00 PM.

Calendar: The February and March calendars were reviewed and discussed.

Budget requests: Donation requests were received from APS Comm. Ed., AAEDC, Senior Center, and Maple Lake Swimming Lessons.

Mn Benefit Association-Life Ins: Form will be filled out and updated after the March 8th election.

MAILBAG: The mailbag was reviewed and discussed.

ADJOURN: A Motion was made by James Schmidt at 8:08 PM to adjourn the meeting, 2nd by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.
