LAKE MARY TOWNSHIP

The Lake Mary Township monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman James Schmidt with the pledge to the flag at 7:00 PM.

Members present:
Supervisors: James Schmidt, Max Radil, and Pete Fernholz
Clerk: Sue Hanson
Treasurer: Christy Tvrdik

A motion was made by Max Radil to approve the agenda, seconded by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.

A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the claims and disbursements #6479–6490 and PERA0625 in the amount of $54,104.41, seconded by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.

A motion was made by Max Radil to approve the May 2025 minutes, seconded by James Schmidt. Motion carried 3-0.

TREASURER'S REPORT:
 One outstanding check has been accounted for. A motion was made by James Schmidt to approve the Treasurer's Report as read, seconded by Max Radil. Motion carried 3-0.

ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR:
A weed complaint was received from a resident at 3431 Lake Andrew Rd.
Also, a washout near 5476 Rockwood Ln. has exposed the fiber optic cable. Runestone Telecom is aware of the situation and will investigate in the morning.

ROAD DISCUSSION:

- Chloride Date: Crow River Construction will begin applying chloride to county roads on Wednesday, 6/11. It is estimated that coverage will take at least a week. After county roads, they will begin township and city roads. This year’s price is $1.589 per gallon (up from $1.528 last year). Invoices will be sent after all chlorinating is completed.

- Chloride – Reno View Dr: LMT will apply chloride to the township’s portion of the road.

- MnDOT Geographic Information and Mapping: The MnDOT map was reviewed. Turtle Trail, Serenity Dr., and Serenity Ln. were missing and will be corrected before the next meeting.

-CABT – Coalition Against Bigger Trucks:
James Schmidt signed a letter on behalf of LMT supporting the Coalition Against Bigger Trucks, a national nonprofit opposing legislation that would allow heavier and longer semi-trucks.

-Sunny Hollow:
 Sunny Hollow will be graded and treated with chloride by the Township.

-Approach Applications:
Two approach applications have been received and responded to.

OLD BUSINESS:

- Fern/Roth Solar Farm: No information has been received regarding the road agreement.

- BSSA Powerline: A letter from the MN Department of Commerce regarding the BSSA Powerline was reviewed.

- August Meeting Date: Due to a scheduling conflict, the August 2025 meeting will be moved   to Monday, August 11th at 7:00 PM.

NEW BUSINESS:

- MN State Demographics: The MN State Demographic Report as of April 1, 2024, states that LMT has a population of 1,169 and an estimated 446 households.

- Variance – Schaffran #30-0299-000: Max Radil attended the viewing for a variance request to allow a second-story dwelling addition. LMT has no objections.

- Sewer Hook-Up – Parcel #30-0337-660: An estimate was requested for sewer hook-up. LMT’s charges would be a $4,000.00 hook-up fee and a $1,000.00 SAC charge.

- District Meeting: The District Meeting will be held on Thursday, August 21, at Cormorant Community Center, Pelican Rapids. Max Radil will try to attend.

- Calendar: June and July calendars were reviewed.

- MAT Member Cards: The 2025 MAT member cards were distributed to the Board.

- Land Use Permits: None received.

MAIL BAG:
The mail bag was reviewed and discussed.

A motion was made by James Schmidt at 7:48 PM to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Pete Fernholz. Motion carried 3-0.
