Annual Township Meeting Minutes
March 13, 2018
 

Meeting called to order at 8:15 p.m. by Nichole Boyden, Clerk with the pledge to the flag.

Motion by Sam Radil to elect James Schmidt moderator, 2nd by Max Radil. Motion carried.

Minutes were reviewed. Motion by Donna Hoeper to approve the 2017 minutes, 2nd by Tammy Schmidt. Motion carried.

Fire Protection Contracts: Alexandria Fire Dept. $19,526.00 Motion by Dean Radil to approve, 2nd by Max Radil. Motion carried. Forada Fire is requesting $15,324.00 for 2019. Motion by Dean Radil to approve, 2nd by Nichole Boyden. Motion carried. Lowry Fire is approved for $3,990.00 for 2019. This was approved in 2017 based on a two year contract.

First Responder requests: Ellie Radil from Forada 1st Responders is requesting $1500.00. Motion by Donna Hoeper to approve, 2nd by Tammy Schmidt. Motion carried. Holmes City sent a letter requesting funding. Discussion was had on which Townships contribute to the Holmes City 1st responders. James Schmidt will check into and give report at April meeting. Motion by Dan Mettler to approve $1,400.00 for Holmes City 1st reponders, 2nd by Sam Radil. Motion Carried. Greg Tollifson from Lowry First Responders is requesting $600.00. Motion by Max Radil to approve, 2nd by Dan Mettler. Motion Carried.

Lakes Area Recreation is requesting $3,330.00, with representation from Alan Zeithammer. Motion by Terry Anderson to approve, 2nd by Julie Freier. Motion carried.

Loreen Mettler was present for Maple Lake swimming lessons. They are requesting $500.00 for 2019. Motion by Nichole Boyden to approve, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried.

Samantha Gran representing AAEDC is requesting 4,200.00 for 2019 funding. Motion by Pete Fernholz to approve, 2nd by Terry Anderson. Motion carried

Sara Eblen from Forada Days is requesting a donation. Terry Anderson made a motion to donate $500.00, 2nd by James Schmidt. Motion carried.

Alexandria Senior Center sent a letter requesting a $500.00 donation. Motion by Dean Radil to give $250.00, 2nd by Tammy Schmidt. Motion carried.

Roads were discussed: Rockwood Lane on first curve will be looked at during road review, due to concerns with rocks in the ditch.

Items from the floor:

  1. Lake Sustainability Fund: Alan Zeithammer and Lake Association members were present to discuss possible funding of lake improvement projects. Project will be discussed further at upcoming regular monthly meetings.
  2. Free Little Library: Request was made to start a Free Little Library at the town hall. Discussion was had and will be put on the agenda for the April monthly meeting.

Election results: Supervisor: Pete Fernholz 135 votes- 1 write-in, Clerk: Susan Hanson 129 votes, Nicole Boyden 7 votes. A total of 136 votes were cast.

James Schmidt presented the amount of $226,020.00 for the 2019 annual budget. Motion by Dean Radil to approve, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion Carried.

Motion by Sam Radil to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 p.m., 2nd by Tammy Schmidt. Motion carried.
