The Lake Mary Township Annual Meeting was called to order at 8:15 p.m. by Clerk, Sue Hanson, with the pledge to the flag.
A motion was made by Bonnie Lay to elect James Schmidt moderator, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried.
Minutes from March 2018 Annual Meeting were reviewed. A motion was made by Dean Radil to approve the 2018 minutes, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried.
Election results:
LMT had a total of 32 voters. Supervisor, Donna Hoeper, received 32 votes. Treasurer, Christy Tvrdik, received 32 votes. There were no write-ins.
Fire Protection requests:
Alexandria Fire Dept. sent a letter requesting $18,339.00 for 2020. A motion was made by Dean Radil to approve, 2nd by Bonnie Lay. Motion carried. Stephen Vanluik from Forada Fire, Forada was present requesting $17,775.00 for 2020. A discussion was had on how Forada Fire Dept. determines the dollar amount. Stephen Vanluik explained it is based on property values within LMT. A motion was made by Sue Hanson to approve the requested amount, 2nd by Kay Hvezda. Motion carried. Lowry Fire is approved for $4151.00 for 2020. This was approved in 2018 based on a two-year contract.
First Responder requests:
Forada 1st Responders, represented by Judy Powers requested $1500.00. A motion was made by Brent Roth to approve the requested amount, 2nd by Dean Radil. Motion carried.
Holmes City 1st Responders sent a letter requesting funding. LMT approved $1400.00 in 2018 for 2019. A motion was made by Bonnie Lay to again donate $1400.00 for 2020, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. A discussion was had on which townships contribute and how much to the Holmes City 1st responders after rhe motion was made, but not yet voted on.
James Schmidt stated that Holmes City Township and Moe Township each contribute $2000.00. The 1st motion was amended. A motion was made by Dan Mettler to match the other townships donations of $2000.00 for 2020, 2nd by Brent Roth. Motions Carried.
Lowry First Responders, represented by Greg Tollifson requested $600.00 for 2020. A motion was made by Bonnie Lay to approve the requested amount, 2nd by Dean Radil. Motion Carried.
Donations:
Lakes Area Recreation represented by Chad Gilbertson requested $3,357.00 for 2020. A discussion was had. A motion was made by Bonnie Lay to approve the requested amount, 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion Carried. The question was asked who is on the LAR Board, and how the LAR Board is determined. Current LAR Board members were listed in the request letter. A discussion was had. LAR will get back to us on how the Board is determined.
Maple Lake swimming lessons represented by Lorrine Mettler requested a donation for 2020. A discussion was had. A motion was made by Mark Grandgenett to give $500.00, 2nd by Dean Radil. Motion carried.
AAEDC Represented by Mark Grandgenett, requested $3,800.00 for 2020 a 9.3% decrease from last year. A discussion was had. A motion was made by Jim Schlosser to approve the requested amount, 2nd by Dan Mettler. Motion carried. Mark Grangenett also informed LMT that 2019 will be his last year on the AAEDC Board representing LMT. A new replacement will need to be found to represent LMT on the AAEDC Board.
Alexandria Senior Center sent a letter requesting a $500.00 donation. A discussion was had. LMT gave $250.00 in 2017 & 2018. A motion was made by Sue Hanson to give $250.00 in 2020, 2nd by Bonnie Lay. Motion carried.
Forada Days represented by Makayla Tvrdik requested a donation for 2020. A discussion was had. LMT donated $500 in 2019. A motion was made by Bonnie Lay to donate $500.00 for 2020, 2nd by Dann Mettler. Motion carried.
Other funding/Donations:
Douglas County Historical Society sent a letter requesting $50.00 for 2020. A motion was made by Brent Roth to approve the requested amount, 2nd by Mark Grandgenett. Motion Carried.
Roads:
Roads were discussed: Rocks are still not removed on the first curve of Rockwood Lane. James Schmidt will talk to the person who is supposed to remove them. James Schmidt informed LMT residents of the blacktopping project to be done in 2019/2020 on the blacktop roads in LMT. A discussion was had.
Election Judges:
Clerk, Sue Hanson, reported LMT has 9 election judges: Lyla Radil, Lorraine Chan, Tammy Smedstad, Juanita Bolinger, Annette Kimman, Mary Kalina, Renae Hills, Bonnie Lay, and Linda Dokken-Mcfann.
Presentation of budget:
James Schmidt reviewed the proposed budget and blacktop project with LMT residents. A discussion was had. James Schmidt presented the following budget: General Receipts & Expenses, $68,757.00, Fire Protection Receipts & Expenses, $40,265.00, Road Receipts & Expenses, $148,500.00, and Blacktop Receipts & Expenses, $200,000.00, for a total of $457,522.00. This does not include the amount for the Alexandria Lakes Area Sewer District (ALASD) sewer bond and interest, which will be determined by ALASD.
Set Tax Levy:
James Schmidt presented the amount of $457,522.00, not including the ALASD sewer bond and interest, for the 2020 Tax Levy for LMT. A motion was made by Bonnie Lay to set the 2020 Tax Levy, not including the ALASD sewer bond and interest at $457,522.00, 2nd by Tim Kalina. Motion Carried.
2020 Annual Meeting:
The March 2020 Annual meeting was set for March 10, 2020, at 8:15 p.m.
A motion was made by Bonnie Lay to adjourn the meeting at 9:38 p.m., 2nd by Donna Hoeper. Motion carried.
